One of the most important venetian recurrences, for hiss connexion with the past times too, is the 'Sensa', that is the festival of the Ascension, still today a significative moment that culminates with the 'wedding with the sea' .
Once upon a time the Doge, in the Bucintoro and followed by a very colored procession of boats, throwed in the sea the ring with which he - symbolically - reaffirmed the supremacy of Venice over the Adriatic sea.
THE 'SENSA' - 21/05/2009 THE VOGALONGA - 31/05/2009
The Sunday next the Ascension you can be present at a real spectacle interesting all the city, that is the Vogalonga. It is a regatta that involves all the Saint Mark Dock, that becomes full of celebrating decorated boats.
THE REDENTORE - 18th/19th JULY 2009
Alla vigilia della 3° domenica di luglio si assiste ad un'altra importante festa collettiva, dedicata al Redentore, che vede partecipare tutti i veneziani.
Un ponte votivo viene costruito per l'occasione sul Canale della Giudecca, per raggiungere il tempio Palladiano del Redentore, costruito in ringraziamento per la fine della peste del 1576.
Durante la notte, barche decorate e con le luminarie affollano il canale in attesa dei famosi fuochi artificiali. Tutte le fondamenta vengono invase da lunghi tavoli dove la gente banchetta tutta la sera, fino a notte.
L'usanza prevede che, terminati i fuochi, le barche si spostino lentamente verso il Lido per andare ad assistere al sorgere del sole.
THE HISTORICAL REGATTA - 07th SEPTEMBER 2009
La Regata Storica si festeggia nella 1° domenica di settembre.
Il corteo festoso di imbarcazioni, che rievoca l'arrivo a Venezia della regina di Cipro, Caterina Cornaro, percorre tutto il Canal Grande, adornato con bandiere e stendardi, e viene accolto con molto calore dal pubblico sulle barche, alle finestre e sulle terrazze e 'altane' veneziane.
La giuria e le autorità cittadine danno poi il via alle gare tra diversi tipi di imbarcazioni caratteristiche veneziane (gondola, gondolino, pupparino, caorlina, mascareta e sandolo).
MADONNA DELLA SALUTE - 21st NOVEMBER 2009
Il 21 novembre si festeggia la Madonna della Salute. E' un momento di raccoglimento religoso, nella chiesa del Longhena eretta per ringraziamento della fine della peste nel 1630. Un ponte votivo permette il pellegrinaggio fino all'immagine della Madonna.

Venice propose, for the year 2009 too, new formulas for the organisation and for the menagement of all Carnival events and festivals, confirming that Venice is always protagonist in the world and under all countries reflectors.
Festivals and exibitions will start from friday, 13th of Febrary, till tuesday,24th of Febrary, you could see them during all the day but also in the night-time.
San Marco Square always remains the place for the main events, but you could see notables exibitions and the pose of the most beautiful masks in all the city.

Dall'anno 1985 è stata istituita questa prestigiosa manifestazione ed esposizione delle arti contemporanee, che si tiene ogni due anni.
Tutta la città viene coinvolta, ma è tra i Giardini e l'Arsenale che si concentrano le maggiori e principali sale espositive.
Il consenso raccolto dalla manifestazione è ampissmo e sempre maggiore, nellultima edizione, dell'anno 2007, è stato raggiunto il maggiore numero di visite dagli ultimi 25 anni, arrivando a quota 320.000.
Il 4-5-6 giugno 2009 si terrà la Vernice della manifestazione.
64° INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FROM 2 TO 12 SEPTEMBER 2009
Dal 2 al 12 settembre 2009 sarà ancora Venezia ad essere al centro dell'attenzione internazionale. La Mostra del Cinema si tiene al Lido di Venezia. I registi, gli attori e le attrici più brave e più famose alloggeranno a Venezia ed esporranno la propria arte.
